This is the week most Christians go to church. This and Christmas, but those that do not go to hear the Good News, or Gospel, are missing more than an Easter message. They miss the opportunity to build relationships with Kingdom men and women at the local church.

This week we finish our conversation with Jim Cross speaking on the subject of Holy Week. Many details in the Gospels are there but most churches skip over details. This week we don't. We enter Holy Week here at the Upper room where the Anchormen meet each week to share and worship, learn and grow.

Without the death and resurrection of Jesus, we would have no hope at all and nothing to look forward to and live our lives for.

So what do the 10 commandments mean to me in 2026?

We discussed in part one how the 10 commandments were not written to us so does that mean we don't have to follow or live by them?

Well hold on there bucko, not so fast. Just because they were not written TO US, there's way more significance in what they mean to us now then aver trying to live "By The LAW" then we have now to Live By The Spirit.

Can you name the Ten Commandments?

The Anchormen tackle the ten commandments and what do they mean to a new covenant believer in Christ.

Are they STILL significant?

What is the greatest commandment and how are you doing as you live your life trying to obey it, let alone the Ten.

What are we to do with these "laws" that Moses gave to the Jews and what about the 613 other laws that man made and even some that God gave too.

The "law" points to our need for a savior, and that Savior is found in Jesus.

Is God first in your life?

The first commandment says we should have no God's before our God almighty.

So many men have many things that fight for our attention and that attention can pull us away from God. OR CAN IT?

The Anchormen wrestle with this topic and even the mention of putting something or someone before God can spark some thoughtful conversation.

Can we make idols for ourselves in our hobbies, passions, serving and even our church activities?

Who is God to you?

This question you may never have asked yourself or anyone else but have you ever taken the time to think about it?

What does God mean to you and how much of a part does He play in your life?

We start out reading Hebrew 11:6 " Without Faith, it is impossible to please Him, anyone that comes to Him must believe He exists and that He rewards those that earnestly seek Him."

Do we look to God as a rewarder to those who are "Good" and He holds back from those who are not, while He keeps score.

John and Todd are joined this week by Brad Whitmore looking into this question about who and what is our perception of God.

We've been taught to hear scripture through a filter of performance and working harder.

This week, Todd and John bring to light some of the things we've been told for many years about how you must get better, try harder, do more for God and gain His favor or you will never be accepted into His kingdom.

Our eternal home is not determined by what WE do but by WHO Jesus is and what He's done for us. Quit trying so hard and putting all that guilt and shame on yourself.

God's GRACE covers a multitude of our bad behavior and thoughts about our inadequacies. We are made in HIS image and He meets us where we are. Not where we put ourselves.

How important are our children and grandchildren to you?

John and Todd have a candid discussion about how we raise our children and what we have learned over the years about the importance of raising up our children to see how we love God and most importantly how God's love for us can, will and does change our lives.

The old testament raises the importance of children in several OT scriptures.

Deuteronomy 6:7

Impress them (Laws and Decrees) on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Psalm 34:11

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Psalm 37:26

They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.

Also in the New Testament and the New Covenant, children play an even greater significance in our lives.Teaching them to be followers of Christ is the utmost importance in our walk with Jesus.

Matthew 19:14

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 21:16

“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?

”Mark 9:37

“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”
