  • OUR House of Central Vermont - Rebecca Duranleau
    2026/04/09
April is Child Abuse Awaness Month! OUR House of Central Vermont is a nonprofit Children’s Advocacy Center and Special Investigations Unit based in Barre (38 Summer Street, Barre, Vermont), serving all of Washington County. Executive Director Rebecca Duranleau has created a fundraising event that links together community and area businesses. Visit their website (ourhousecentralvt.com) or Facebook page at OUR House of Central Vermont for the April calendar of events that YOU SAVE from and THEY BENEFIT from!

OUR House of Cenrtal Vermont provides a safe, child-friendly environment for victims of abuse. They conduct forensic interviews that support law enforcement investigations, offer advocacy, referrals, and case management for families. They also support both child victims AND adult survivors of sexual abuse/assault. They work closely with: Law enforcement, Vermont Department for Children & Families, State’s Attorney’s Office, Mental health providers and hospitals.

OUR House uses a “One Unified Response” approach—bringing all key agencies together in one place—so victims don’t have to repeatedly relive trauma during multiple interviews.

They’ve been serving the region since 1989 and were actually Vermont’s first Children’s Advocacy Center.

  • Inside the Mind of Chuck Martin
    2026/04/02
From toilet trouble aboard Artemis II to helicopter headlines involving Pete Hegseth, to a head-banging moment you didn’t see coming from William Shatner—nothing is off limits. Add in sharp takes on local schools, real talk from the community, and the kind of unfiltered commentary you only get when the mic is live and the guard is down. Chuck Martin in his purest form:
Unscripted. Untethered. Unpredictable. And that’s exactly why you can’t look away.

  • Local parents speak up on the Central Vermont Supervisory Union's issues
    2026/03/30
Local parents speak up on the Central Vermont Supervisory Union's issues at Echo Valley and Washington Village schools in Vermont. Is the school board at a breaking point? Not officially—but the system around them is under serious strain. Is the level of transparency what our community expects? Why are more and more parents resorting to homeschooling? Across Vermont, school systems (including supervisory unions like CVSU) are dealing with
rising costs and taxpayer pressure, declining enrollment in rural districts, staffing shortages (especially special ed & behavioral support), ongoing debates about district consolidation and restructuring. State leaders themselves admit there’s no agreement on how to fix it, even as calls for major change grow louder. Post your comments, ideas, solutions.
