My goal is that their hearts, having been knit together in love, may be encouraged, and that they may have all the riches that assurance brings in their understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. - Colossians 2:2-3

  • SCIENCE & THE BIBLE | Session 04: Geology
    2021/08/10

Welcome to Session 4 in our 11 part series titled “Science & the Bible!” This series examines the relationship between different disciplines of Science and the Bible and the arguments surrounding this topic. This lesson examines more closely the field of Geology, its historical development and the geological descriptions that can be found in the Bible. The Bible does not have much to say on geology but the little it does is striking. For instance, Isaiah describes the earth as if he’s describing the theory of Isostasy. The nature and location of fossils across the globe from aquatic creatures in the Himalayas to jelly fish in central Wisconsin point to evidence of a worldwide catastrophe, mirroring the account of Noah’s flood. This lesson also addresses the problems with Flat Earth theory being embraced by some Christian leaders and the misuse of scripture.

  • SCIENCE & THE BIBLE | Session 05: Oceanography
    2021/08/20

Download the full lesson and Power Point at: https://courses.evidence4faith.org/sciencebible

Welcome to session5 in our 11 par series “Science & The Bible!” This series examines the relationship between different disciplines of Science and the Bible and the arguments surrounding this topic. This lesson covers the field of Oceanography and how we came to map currents and the seafloor in addition to some questions regarding the “Sea Monster” from the book of Jonah.

Many do not know that what inspired American Navy Captain Matthew Maury to sound the ocean floor and map current was a Bible study. Some of the oldest texts of scripture refer to mountains, currents and springs in the ocean while the science of the time taught something entirely different. We know now that the biblical descriptions of the sea were correct all along!

  • EPHESIANS 2:10 | Session 1: The Masterpiece @ Riverside Bible Camp
    2021/08/30

Download the full lesson and resources at: https://courses.evidence4faith.org/ephesians210

This series is a topical study of Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” The first session explains what it means to be a masterpiece, or “God’s workmanship.” Masterpieces are not created overnight and can be very difficult to work on. In our Christian lives obedience to God can sometimes seem to cause suffering and discomfort. In Corinthians it says the Spirit is making us more like his Son. What does this look like in our daily lives?

  • EPHESIANS 2:10 | Session 3: A New Creation @ Riverside Bible Camp
    2021/09/01

This series is a topical study of Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” In this session you will learn about what it means to be a new creation in Christ with the help of caterpillars and butterflies. Scripture uses a specific word to describe our transition from death to life: metamorpho’o. From “metamorpho’o” we get the terms “metamorphosis,” “transformed,” and “transfiguration.” Why is it important to understand we are “a new creation”? How does this change our perspective on how to live?

  • EPHESIANS 2:10 | Session 4: Salt Of The Earth @ Riverside Bible Camp
    2021/09/02

Download the full lesson and resources at: https://courses.evidence4faith.org/ephesians210

This series is a topical study of Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” This session will dive deep into a very popular verse among Christians from Matthew 5:13 about being the “Salt of the Earth.” What is often missed in this teaching from Christ is the significance of salt to first century people. Why did Christ specifically use salt? Salt is incredibly important for trade, preserving foods and even creating medicines in our modern world. It had similar uses in the first century and was so valuable that it was used as a form of currency. There are a few different modern interpretations of this verse but what would have first century Christians understood? What is the significance of this teaching?

    2021/09/12

Download the full lesson and Power Point at: https://courses.evidence4faith.org/sciencebible

Welcome to session 6 in our 11 part series “Science & The Bible!” This series examines the relationship between different disciplines of Science and the Bible and the arguments surrounding this topic. This lesson covers the field of Astronomy and how the science has changed over the centuries. Our ideas about the universe, even as early as the 20th century, might seem very silly to us today, thanks to new knowledge obtained by satellites, probes, and advancements in telescopes. How does the Bible stack up to our modern understanding of the universe? This lesson also covers the debate among some Christians on whether scripture supports a geocentric or heliocentric model.
