Lords Of The Shootout 03/27/26

As we’ve been saying for YEARS, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the Lords Of The Shootout, striking fear into the hearts of any opposing team’s goaltender.. etc, etc.

We kid, we kid. Back-to-back shootout victories for your Pittsburgh Penguins are of course unheard of and downright unexpected - but the Steel City’s flagship hockey club managed the feat nonetheless, besting ace goaler, Linus Ullmark for a massive 2-point party in the capital of Canada. As of today’s posting (Fri March 27, 2026) the Penguins are in sole possession of 2nd place in the Metropolitan division.

The podcast you’re listening to was recorded the day before said game, on the heels of two epic home losses to the NHL’s top teams, Carolina and Colorado.

Olympic Hangover 02/23/26

Sidney Crosby played well in the Milan Cortina Olympic prelims, then sustained a serious lower body injury in Team Canada’s quarterfinal game against Czechia. Team USA ultimately won gold in dramatic OT fashion, with NJD’s Jack Hughes netting the deciding tally.

The Penguins are back in action on home ice, this Thursday against Hughes’s NHL squad, followed by a Saturday visit to MSG and the reigning gold medal-winning HC, former PIT bench boss Mike Sullivan.
