  • This is What Pianists Get WRONG About Healthy Technique - With Penelope Roskell
    2026/03/17

First of all, I apologize to Ms. Roskell for mispronouncing her last name on the recording (it is pronounced RAWSKell)!! I meant no disrespect and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation!

Because she REALLY knows her stuff!

She literally wrote the book on it!

She is not only a professor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London,

Or the President-Elect of the European Piano Teachers Association

But wrote the book The Complete Pianist and the Essential Piano Techniques Book series as well!

We talked about what it means to truly warm up at the piano

About how a performance injury led her to re-examine every aspect of how she played the piano

And how even with learning the physiology of playing the piano, the ultimate purpose is to be able to access our musical artistry at a higher level.

Keep on keepin' on, and enjoy this episode!

  • REBUILD Your Confidence as an Injured Musician!
    2026/03/10

One of the cool benefits I have with the podcast is sharing what I am learning in my masters program in real time!

One of the key theories and concepts in confidence building for performers is self efficacy.

Self Efficacy (coined by Dr Albert Bandura) is one's belief in their ability to complete a task.

No one who has gone through an injury needs to be reminded of how their confidence took a huge hit after their injury.

In this episode I talk about key ways that have helped me rebuild my self confidence, as well as ways that can help you regain your confidence as you navigate recovery!

    Keep on keepin' on!
