After the start of World War II, a small group of former lighthouse engineers were instrumental in completing a Top Secret mission to develop a brand new technology that would radically improve a ship or plane's ability to navigate with accuracy, called LORAN (Long Range Navigation). This technology is largely credited with turning the tides of battle, and helping secure an Allied victory.

Journey back in time to the 1930s, '40s, and '50s with United States military officer Ellis Gordon as his recently discovered in a shoebox letters to loved ones are brought to life. US Coast Guard captain Gordon's engineering work was crucial to establishing the LORAN (long-range navigation) towers that helped the Allies to achieve victory in World War II. In addition to transmitting a marvelous authentic voice from the past, these letters remind us all of the eternal importance of love, family, and connection.
